2000-02_NEW MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING, ASSUMPTION COLLEGE, BANGKOK,
THAILAND
(project under responsibility as co-architect at ajaphol dusitnanond architect
& associate co., ltd.)
The school needs various programs on the limited resource of
their land. But most importantly, the site is surrounded by three old important buildings. How to arrange large programs without
destroying the value of these buildings? As main organization principle, two axes were created to make an approach from the
street to the church and link all the buildings by both physical and visual connections.
Consequently, the new building is organized over axes
to keep strong linkage at ground level. Different type of classrooms are stacked into a tower while a podium combines large
components such as auditorium, canteen, library and swimming pool. Due to the financial problems and changing school's board
of director, the project is currently under construction in phase two.
